FO: Henslowe

I was feeling a bit under the weather on the weekend and spent many an hour catching up on podcasts and knitting. As it became dark and thoughts turned to Sunday night dinner I cast off the final stitches of my henslowe.

Henslowe winter perfect!!!

I am so glad I finally knit this pattern after it sitting in my queue for quite a few months. The pattern was quite clever, without being overly complicated. I learnt a few new tricks such as a new cast off method, and how to knit a picot edging.

The Berry Colorful Yarnings fingering merino superwash was just lovely to knit with and blocked beautifully. The subtle colour variation was just what I was after for this shawl - just enough variation to keep it interesting without distracting from the pattern. I used just over one skein for this shawl and am now starting to ponder if I would like matching mittens or fingerless gloves or do I save it for a striped scarf? What do you think it should be?

my creative space

A couple of months back I blogged about receiving two skeins of Berry Colourful Yarnings in the avenue of tributes colourway. The colour was just wonderful and I knew that once it got a bit colder I would be wearing all my dark winter coloured clothes and want a shawl or scarf in this colour. So I immediately wound the skeins ready to knit. And started pattern hunting. I started one project and then another but just didn't seem to find the right one and ripped out my knitting (FYI this is one sturdy yarn it just bounces back!). So the yarn sat. About a fortnight ago I finally figured out what I wanted the yarn to be and as soon as I finished a project and had the right needles available I cast on. Each night this week I have added a few rows. And my henslowe is slowly growing.

It is really perfect knitting weather here today, I hope to be able to sneak in a few rows later in the day with a cup of tea whilst catching up on last night's offspring. What is in your creative space today? More creative spaces here.

rouge pulse

It was so terribly cold today and I was so very thankfully for my hand knits. As I was making a selection of which scarf or shawl I was going to wear this morning I realised I have been terribly slack at recording finished objects on my blog. So to redeem myself: rouge pulse!

I blogged a bit about this shawl at the beginning of May and finished it not long after that. The pattern is from one of my most favourite designers, Veera. I found it to be a relatively easy pattern to follow with such clever but simple details which create a beautiful knit.

I have been wearing this shawl a lot lately. It is a great shape for draping over your shoulders or folding around your neck to wear as a scarf. I have found the versatility great perfect for wrapping around my shoulders when inside or as a scarf when outside.

And the yarn is just beautiful. I used two different Skein yarns - a laceweight silk cashmere and a fingering weight 100% wool yarn which together create a lovely squishy warm shawl.

I have so many knitting projects on the go at the moment as well as I few more finished objects to share. It is just such god knitting weather here. I saw it is going to be at most 11degrees here on Sunday (that is cold for us!) and I immediately thought - perfect I can knit! What are you knitting?

stripes

After completing my last scalene and sending it to my mother as a gift, I immediately started another one for me. Orange and barley stripes.

Today it has been cold and raining and dark outside. Perfect knitting weather and a good way to start a long weekend. Wishing you a good one.
